The Problem: Most AI Medical Scribes Are Built for Americans

If you practice medicine in a language other than English or Spanish, the well-known AI medical scribes (US-built, US-funded, US-marketed) probably don’t work for you.

The Two Features That Make This Different

AI4Docs is built on Google’s Gemini 3 Flash — a model with native multilingual capability across hundreds of languages. We add two things on top that turn capability into actually-usable product.

1. Language Auto-Detect (from the audio itself)

2. “Other language…” — Add Any Language Manually

Together, these two features mean every language is usable. Auto-detect handles the languages that come up naturally in your audio. “Other language…” handles the rest. A Greek paediatrician and a Bengali ICU doctor get the same product quality as an Egyptian urologist or an Argentine GP.

If your language isn’t listed above, it still works. The list above is illustrative, not exhaustive. The “Other language…” feature accepts any language name. Welsh, Yoruba, Tagalog, Amharic, Tamil, Punjabi, Maori, Khmer, Burmese — type the language, generate the note. The underlying Gemini model has trained native capability across hundreds of human languages.

How to Generate Your First Note in an Unsupported Language

Two paths. Pick whichever fits your workflow.

Path A: Let auto-detect handle it (no setup)

Open the app and press Record

Sign in to clinic.ai4docs.ai. From the main screen, press the red Record Encounter button.

Speak naturally in your language with the patient

The auto-detect engine listens for 3-6 seconds and identifies the dominant language. You don’t need to pre-set anything.

Press Stop and Generate

The language pill at the top of the note panel shows what was detected (e.g., “PL” for Polish, “EL” for Greek). The generated note, prescription, and orders all come out in that language.

The language is saved to your profile

Next time you record in the same language, it’s already in your dropdown — no re-detection needed.

Path B: Add the language manually (full control)

Open Settings (gear icon, top-right)

Or click the language pill above your note to open the language modal directly.

Find the Languages section

You’ll see three dropdowns: Note language, Patient instructions language, Drug names language. Each can be set independently.

Pick “Other language…” and type your language

At the bottom of each dropdown is an “Other language…” option. Click it, type the language in English (e.g., “Welsh”, “Yoruba”, “Tamil”), confirm.

Generate

From now on, your custom language is in the dropdown for all three settings. The whole note, prescription, and orders generate in that language.

Three-Language Workflows for Multilingual Practice

AI4Docs separates three independent language settings so doctors who code-switch (very common in MENA, Eastern Europe, South Asia) can structure their notes the way their patients actually need them.

Example — Greek paediatrician: note in English (sharing with international colleagues), patient instructions in Greek (for the parents), drug names in English (brand names are international). Three settings, one generation, three correct outputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AI4Docs work in Greek, Polish, Romanian, or Hungarian?
Yes. AI4Docs supports any language through two paths. The 13 most common languages (English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Swahili) are hard-coded with optimised section translations. Any other language — Greek, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgaria, Czech, Slovak, Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Bengali, Persian/Farsi, Ukrainian, and 100+ more — works through the “Other language…” feature: type the language name in Settings or the language pill, and every note, prescription, and AI 2nd opinion will be generated in that language permanently.
Do I have to set the language before each recording?
No. Auto-detect identifies the dominant spoken language from the audio itself within 3-6 seconds and applies it to all three language settings (note language, patient instructions, drug names). You only set it manually if you want to override the auto-detection or pick a language that isn’t being spoken in the recording.
How does AI4Docs handle non-English languages other AI scribes can’t?
Most AI scribes are built on English-only or English+Spanish language models. AI4Docs is built on Google’s Gemini 3 Flash, which has native multilingual capability across hundreds of languages. We pair that with our “Other language…” feature that lets the doctor name any language explicitly, so even languages we haven’t hard-coded translation paths for produce correct medical notes — including section headings, prescriptions, lab orders, and AI 2nd opinion output.
What if my dialect is different from the standard form?
The auto-detect engine handles dialect variation in the input language naturally (it has been tested with 9+ Arabic dialects, multiple Hindi accents, regional Spanish varieties, etc.). Output language is generated in the standard medical form (e.g., Medical Standard Arabic, formal Romanian, standard Polish) for cross-clinician readability. If you need a specific dialect or register for output, you can specify it in the AI prompt bar at generation time.
Does the auto-detect feature cost extra credits?
No. Language auto-detection is a free action — it does not consume any of your monthly credits. Only the actual note generation uses a credit. Adding a custom language via the “Other language…” feature is also free. Generating in your custom language costs the same as any other note (one credit per note generated).
Can the doctor and patient speak different languages in the same recording?
Yes. The dominance-by-speaking-time detection picks the language spoken most by total seconds, so a brief greeting in one language won’t override the main conversation. You can also independently configure note language, patient instructions language, and drug names language — for example, generate the clinical note in English, patient instructions in Greek (for the patient’s family), and keep drug names in English (brand names are international).
Which countries can I use AI4Docs from?
AI4Docs is a web-based PWA accessible from any country with internet access. There are no geographic restrictions on signup or use. The platform is GDPR-compliant (ICO-registered ZC106163), zero-storage by design (audio is processed and discarded, never persisted), and hosted on Google Cloud with a signed BAA. Free tier with 40 notes/month is available to everyone worldwide, no credit card required.
Is the platform safe for patient privacy in non-US countries?
Yes. AI4Docs runs on a zero-storage architecture: audio is processed in memory by Google’s Vertex AI under a signed BAA, the generated note is returned to you, and the audio is discarded. Nothing about the patient is persisted on AI4Docs servers. The platform is GDPR-compliant (ICO registration ZC106163) and uses Google Cloud’s HIPAA-eligible infrastructure. Doctors in the EU, Gulf, Asia, and Latin America have full data-protection coverage equivalent to or better than US-only platforms.
How do I know it actually works in my language before I commit?
Try it on the free tier (40 notes/month, no credit card). Generate one test note in your language using either a recording of a sample case or a typed input. If the output meets your standard, keep using the free tier or upgrade for more capacity. If something looks off, contact support@ai4docs.ai with a sample — we improve language-specific paths based on real clinician feedback.
